Sandra Jennings began ThunderGold in July of 2002. Her sewing skills were developed in the early 1960s when she was in the 4-H Club. Her articles were entered into competition at the Hamilton County Fair (previously known as Carthage Fair) where they consistently won blue ribbons. Interest faded in sewing until her freshman year in college when she was a business major at the University of Cincinnati.
She began easing back into sewing and eventually made her own tailored suits for work in the business world. Continuing on, she made a number of her children’s clothes.
Children and her keen interest in her golden retrievers (breeding, training, and showing) caused her to put her sewing interest on hold for several years.
Changes in jobs in her profession (Human Resources) found her working part-time and brainstorming about starting her own business. She had known about Pendleton wool but had no idea about the huge selection of southwest and American Indian designs displayed on blankets and fabric. The idea of making bags, etc. from this beautiful, durable fabric and combining it with the ultrasuede and pewter buttons was a product of this brainstorming.
Sandra is able to utilize her creative side to produce these special, well-made items. She is very concerned about making a quality product that will last for years. Anyone purchasing one of her items will carry it proudly and know that it is a unique item which will receive many compliments.
By the way, "ThunderGold" is also the name of her kennel for her precious beautiful Golden Retrievers.
